Marina Bay Sands Singapore Launches Ultra-Luxury Expansion

0

Marina Bay Sands Singapore, Asia’s iconic waterfront resort, has officially launched construction on a new $8 billion ultra-luxury expansion. Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and executives from Las Vegas Sands joined the groundbreaking ceremony, marking a bold commitment to the city-state’s future.

The new project will feature a 570-suite hotel tower, exclusive rooftop dining, private wellness terraces, luxury retail, and a 15,000-seat entertainment arena. The tower will be designed by Moshe Safdie, the architect behind the original Marina Bay Sands.

Rotated 45 degrees for optimal views of Marina Bay and the Singapore Strait, the tower will include biophilic elements, green design features, and a signature 76,000-square-foot Skyloop. This elevated haven will offer rooftop gardens, observatories, private cabanas, and infinity pools.

Entertainment Hub and Urban Integration

The arena, designed by Populous, will attract global concerts, performances, and cultural events. With optimized acoustics and world-class infrastructure, it will set a new standard for live entertainment in Asia.

Additionally, the development will connect directly to Bayfront MRT and nearby landmarks through underground linkways and pedestrian paths. This ensures smooth public access and improved urban mobility around the Marina Bay area.

Public spaces in the new podium will encourage local engagement. These areas will blend business, leisure, and culture, further integrating the resort into Singapore’s downtown core.

A Sustainable Vision for the Future

The expansion of Marina Bay Sands Singapore will follow Sands ECO360 guidelines. This global sustainability strategy ensures environmentally responsible design and construction practices.

Energy-saving features include a self-shading façade, smart blinds, and high-performance glazing. Suites will have private terraces and rooftop gardens with Southeast Asian plant species. These features will help reduce solar heat gain while blending the structure with its surroundings.

During construction, the team will use low-carbon concrete, recycled steel, and implement a waste management plan. More than 75% of construction waste will be recycled, reducing landfill impact.

Marina Bay Sands hosted 2,200 events in 2024, welcomed over 1.2 million MICE delegates, and recently celebrated its 500 millionth visitor. With over 12,000 local employees and 92% procurement spent within Singapore, the project’s growth is expected to deliver even more economic impact.
