Crowne Plaza Maroochydore Unveiled by IHG and Felix Capital
The Crowne Plaza Maroochydore is set to redefine hospitality on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Announced by IHG Hotels & Resorts in partnership with Felix Capital, the upcoming development on Ocean Street will feature 180 guest rooms, high-end wellness amenities, expansive event facilities, and diverse dining options.
This reimagined project replaces the earlier voco Maroochydore plan, reflecting new priorities in the region’s hospitality and event infrastructure. With corporate events and destination tourism rising, the Crowne Plaza brand promises to meet evolving demand with style and scale.
Hotel Facilities and Event Capabilities
The hotel will boast 770+ square metres of versatile event space, including a 600sqm ballroom — one of the largest in the region. Complementing its event profile are:
- A 30m pool and spa
- Wellness retreat, gym, and sauna
- Two levels of secure basement parking
- A 210-seat all-day restaurant
- A 160-seat signature dining venue
- Pool bar, lobby bar, and lounge
These features position Crowne Plaza Maroochydore as a year-round venue for weddings, business functions, retreats, and leisure stays.

Supporting Regional Growth Through Hospitality
According to government projections, the Sunshine Coast will need over 2,400 additional hotel rooms by 2032. This hotel directly contributes to meeting that goal and positions Maroochydore as a major conference and tourism hub.
The site will anchor a revitalized Ocean Street precinct, boosting activity in retail, business, and lifestyle sectors. As a result, the hotel is expected to support economic diversification, job creation, and local investment well into the next decade.
This is also the second partnership between IHG and Felix Capital, following their earlier signing of Holiday Inn & Suites Caloundra, opening in 2030. Their collaboration reflects a shared vision for delivering future-focused hospitality to Queensland.
Construction Timeline and Opening Outlook
Construction on Crowne Plaza Maroochydore is set to begin in early 2026, with the hotel scheduled to open in 2028. This timeline aligns with regional development strategies and broader goals tied to tourism growth and major event hosting, particularly ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
Ultimately, this project combines luxury accommodation with robust infrastructure and location appeal. Once open, the hotel will serve as a flagship destination, cementing its role in the Sunshine Coast’s transformation into a premier business and leisure destination.
