Burj Khalifa Still Tops as World’s Tallest Building in 2025

The world’s tallest building remains the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which has held the title since its completion in 2010. Soaring to a height of 828 meters (2,717 feet), it continues to dominate skylines and global engineering records.

Close behind is Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur, standing at 679 meters (2,227 feet). Completed in late 2023, it became the second-tallest building worldwide and the tallest in Southeast Asia. Its bold architecture and symbolic design mark a major milestone in Malaysia’s development.

Shanghai Tower, located in China’s financial hub, ranks third globally. Reaching 632 meters (2,073 feet), it features a sleek twisting shape designed to reduce wind resistance. This skyscraper combines commercial offices, observation decks, and green spaces.

In fourth place is Abraj Al Bait in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Rising 601 meters, it features a massive clock tower that overlooks one of the most sacred religious sites. It plays both spiritual and economic roles in the region.

Ping An Finance Center in Shenzhen comes next, standing at 599 meters. It serves as a modern business hub for China’s booming tech industry. Following closely is Goldin Finance 117 in Tianjin, measuring 597 meters, though it has seen delays in reaching full operational status.

Other impressive entries include Lotte World Tower in Seoul at 556 meters and One World Trade Center in New York at 546 meters. The latter is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and a significant symbol of resilience and rebirth.

As of 2025, no completed structure has surpassed Burj Khalifa’s towering height. However, several mega-projects are under construction with the goal of taking the crown. Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia aims to exceed 1,000 meters, and if completed, it will set a new global benchmark.

Meanwhile, the proposed Rise Tower in Riyadh could reach 2,000 meters, though it remains in early development. If built, it would more than double the height of current skyscrapers, redefining what’s possible in architectural design.

For now, Burj Khalifa continues to symbolize innovation, ambition, and architectural excellence. It stands as a global icon and remains unmatched at the top of the world’s tallest structures.
